Paperwork Application for Cambodia Type Approval

There are generally two methods available for applying type approval: local testing and document evaluation. The only way to obtain TRC certification is through the paperwork or document evaluation process. Therefore, manufacturers need to understand the process of paperwork application for Cambodia type approval.

Several requirements must be met to complete the paperwork application for Cambodia type approval. These criteria are set by the Telecommunication Regulator of Cambodia (TRC), which regulates all certification requirements.

The time required for the paperwork application for Cambodia type approval is relatively short. It’s not a quick document evaluation process, but it’s not excessively long either. Some countries require longer processes just for document evaluation.

What is the Paperwork Application for RF Type Approval?

As we have previously informed you, there are two methods generally used in the Radio Frequency (RF) type approval application process: local testing and document evaluation.

Local testing involves testing at a laboratory owned by the country you are applying to. On the other hand, document evaluation or paperwork is a process generally used in countries that do not require local testing, such as Cambodia.

The document evaluation process only requires the submission of test report from an international laboratory. Each country has its own regulations regarding the application process.

Some countries have a list of registered and accredited international laboratories. Others do not have a specific list; as long as the laboratory meets applicable standards, any international laboratory can be used.

In general, test report must come from a laboratory that meets applicable international standards. Furthermore, test report must meet the destination country’s requirements regarding frequency usage, power levels, and emission limits.

Is Local Testing for Cambodia Type Approval Mandatory?

There is no mandatory requirement for local testing in the Cambodia type approval. The TRC accepts test report from foreign labs that meet applicable international standards.

The absence of local testing certainly simplifies the TRC certification application process. While not quick, the document evaluation process in Cambodia isn’t lengthy either, as neighboring countries have longer wait times.

Not all applicant for Cambodia type approval have test report from international labs. What if you don’t have them? Of course, if you use Dimulti’s services, we’ll help you obtain them.

Sample requirements for Cambodia type approval

In the absence of local testing, sample submission requirements for Cambodia type approval are also unnecessary. Sample submissions are only required if you do not yet have test report from a foreign laboratory.

Since testing is necessary in this case, samples will be required. The quantity and type will depend on the needs of the device being tested and the laboratory’s requirements.

Foreign Laboratory Testing Requirements

The absence of local testing in Cambodia makes the requirement for test report from foreign laboratories crucial. TRC has specific requirements for laboratories whose test report can be used on paperwork application for Cambodia type approval.

Of course, laboratories must meet TRC standards. There is no list of international laboratories specifically registered in Cambodia. However, they must hold international accreditation based on ISO/IEC 17025. This testing standard is generally aligned with Conformité Européenne (CE) or Federal Communications Commission (FCC) requirements.

Therefore, any laboratory worldwide that meets TRC accreditation and standard requirements can be used to conduct testing. Importantly, the laboratory must be able to meet testing standards for Radio Frequency (RF), Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC), safety, and EMF or Health.

Submitting documents depends on the stringent document requirements for Cambodia type approval. The document processing process requires several documents before the application is submitted. The following are some of the documents required for TRC certification:

  1. Application form specified by the TRC Office
  2. Compliance certificate from an international certification body
  3. RF test report and its appendix
  4. EMC test report
  5. Safety test report
  6. EMF or Health test report
  7. Trademark certificate
  8. User manual
  9. Technical specification
  10. Appointment letter as a local importer, distributor, or local agent

Once the documents are collected and prepared, they will be emailed to info@trc.goc.kh. Our local team, registered with the TRC, will then proceed with the online process.

If the documents are complete and accurate, your Cambodia type approval application will be approved. You will then need to wait for the certification to be issued. If any documents are missing or incorrect, you will need to complete them again for re-evaluation by the TRC.

The paperwork application for Cambodia type approval is the only pathway for certification. However, if you don’t yet have test report from an overseas laboratory, Dimulti can help you plan for such testing.

If testing is required, samples must be submitted as required. The number and type of samples required will depend on the testing requirements and laboratory policies.

Document evaluation is only conducted by attaching a test report from overseas laboratories. These laboratories must be internationally accredited according to ISO 17025 standards and comply with FCC or CE standards.

The test report required to complete the certification application documentation is an RF test report, an EMC test report, a safety test report, and an EMF or health test report.

Errors and missing documents will delay the process of paperwork application for Cambodia type approval. To avoid this, you can contact Dimulti for further consultation.
