This is one of the applicable certifications for Information and Communication Technology (ICT) devices.

TEC MTCTE stands for Telecommunication Engineering Centre and Mandatory Testing and Certification of Telecom Equipment. TEC is an authority under the Department of Telecommunications, Ministry of Communications and Information Technology of India, which regulates all certification matters for telecommunications products directly connected to telecommunications networks.

TEC requires local testing for India type approval to ensure that distributed and marketed devices meet safety and quality standards. To learn more about applying for TEC MTCTE certification, let’s discuss local testing as one of the mandatory requirements.

What is Local Testing for RF Type Approval?

There are two methods commonly used to obtain a Radio Frequency (RF) type approval certificate: document or paperwork evaluation and local testing. Some countries require local testing, while others make it optional.

In countries that require it, devices seeking certification must be tested in a local laboratory. This testing process requires samples of telecom and wireless products that will be sold in that country.

Local testing is necessary to ensure that wireless products comply with the spectrum regulations, interference limits, and safety standards of the destination country. It also ensures that the device can operate safely and effectively in that country’s environment.

In India, local testing is a mandatory pathway for the TEC MTCTE certification process. Therefore, all applicant for India type approval need to understand the procedures.

Local Testing for India Type Approval

Local testing for India type approval is mandatory to obtain TEC MTCTE certification. This pathway involves conducting all required testing at a local laboratory in India.

There are three types of testing processes required to apply for the India Type Approval certification. These tests include:

Radio Frequency (RF) Testing: This process is performed on devices that use radio frequencies to evaluate wireless signal transmission.

Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) Testing: A process for testing devices to ensure they do not interfere with other devices.

Safety Testing: Ensuring that the device is safe to use for equipment and power adapters.

The test must meet two sample conditions: an irradiated sample and a normal sample. RF testing generally refers to four parameters: frequency range, output power, bandwidth, and spurious emissions.

Frequency Range: The range or spectrum of frequencies generated.

Output Power: The transmission power generated when activated.

Bandwidth: Data transmission speed.

Spurious emissions: Unwanted radio frequency emissions.

1. Document requirements

The following is a list of documents required for TEC MTCTE certification using the local testing method:

Testing Document- Test SOPs, Commands, and SWs

AIR company registration document

MOU between AIR and Manufacturer

User Manual

Specification sheet

Product photos

Label Artwork

BOM (Bill of Materials)

Once the documents are collected and prepared, they will be submitted through the MTCTE portal. The submitted documents will then be evaluated by the TEC.

2. Testing laboratory requirements

When discussing local testing for India type approval, the local laboratory itself cannot be ignored. As previously mentioned, local testing is the only option for MTCTE TEC certification.

Therefore, it is important to identify qualified laboratories. India has a list of 72 local laboratories that can be used for certification applications. You can view the list at https://www.mtcte.tec.gov.in/designated_Labs.

It’s important to note that each lab has different capabilities. Therefore, testing may be conducted in more than one lab. For example, RF and EMC testing may be performed in lab A, but safety testing may be performed in lab B.

Paperwork Application for India Type Approval

For the TEC MTCTE certification type, there is no option other than local testing. The paperwork option only applies to the WPC ETA (Wireless Planning & Coordination, Equipment Type Approval) certification type.

Conversely, for the WPC ETA certification type, there is no local testing requirement for the application process. This means that applicants must already have test reports from a foreign laboratory as document requirements for India type approval.

The attached test reports must be from a laboratory accredited by the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC). Accreditation is based on ISO/IEC 17025, with standards referenced to Conformité Européenne (CE) or the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).

Pre-testing to Avoid Failure

The requirement of local testing for India type approval makes it crucial that the submitted samples meet all required test parameters. Failure to do so will result in losses and delays in the certification process.

How can this be avoided? Dimulti can be the solution. We provide pre-testing services for every product undergoing RF testing. This process involves testing samples in our internal lab using a spectrum analyzer.

Pre-testing ensures your product meets the technical standards of the destination country. This way, you avoid the potential for official testing failures and save costs by eliminating the need for retesting.

If any issues arise during pre-testing, you can immediately identify areas that need to be corrected to ensure compliance with technical standards.

We prioritize transparency; you can monitor the pre-testing process live via teleconference. This also facilitates our process, especially regarding the product’s Standard Operating Procedure (SOP).

When discussing local testing for India type approval, one cannot ignore the TEC MTCTE certification.

[60
61,62,12,67,66
post-5033","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-india","tag-india","tag-india-type-approval","tag-local-testing","tag-tec-mtcte","tag-wpc-eta
["GET
