Document requirements for RF certification in Thailand depend on the type of registration being applied for. Although the differences in required documents between classes are not always clearly defined, this is precisely why you must be vigilant.

Three Classes, Three Document Sets
Before learning about the document requirements for RF certification in Thailand, you should know that there are three classes of certification. Each class has its own set of document requirements.
First, Class A. This is the registration category for high-risk devices such as drones, wireless microphones, vehicle radar, and satellite equipment. This class requires full registration with the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC).
Second, Class B. This is the registration category for mobile devices. This class requires certification from the NBTC.
Third, the Supplier’s Declaration of Conformity (SDoC). This is the registration category for short-range devices such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, RFID, and NFC. When submitting an application, Abda only needs to submit the Declaration of Conformity to the NBTC without having to register in advance.
Determine which registration category your product falls under. Only then should you prepare the documents required for the selected registration.
Document requirements for Class A
Here are nine documents you need to prepare for Class A registration:
- Application form specified by the NBTC Office
- Company registration certificate
- ID card or passport of the authorized director (issued by the Thai authority)
- Applicant's username and password from the Department of Business Development (DBD)
- Power of attorney authorization letter
- Catalogue or technical specifications
- Test reports, approval certificate, or certificate of conformity
- Laboratory accreditation certificate
- Equipment photos (front, back, sides, logo, and type or model of the equipment)
Document requirements for Class B
Class B registration requires the same documents as Class A. However, there is one additional document that differs: the NBTC certificate for the product.
If you have this certificate, you can submit it as an additional supporting document. While this additional document is not required, it can strengthen your application.
Document Requirements for SDoC
Supplier Declaration of Conformity (SDoC) registration is the simplest type of registration. However, the application still requires the same complete set of documents as Class A.
The difference is that you do not need to prepare an application form. Instead, you must submit the SDoC form.
Additionally, products falling under the SDoC category do not require full certification or registration. You simply need to submit the declaration along with all supporting documents to the NBTC Office.
Two Documents to Pay Attention To
Of all the document requirements for RF certification in Thailand, there are two that require special attention. These two documents are the company registration certificate and the test report.
One thing to note about the company registration certificate is its validity period. The document must have an issuance date that is less than 90 days before the submission date. If the certificate has expired, you must first obtain a new one before you can submit your application.
Key points to note in the test report are the laboratory that issued it and the applicable testing standards. The test report must come from an ISO/IEC 17025-accredited international laboratory that adheres to CE or FCC standards.
The test reports that must be submitted are Radio Frequency (RF) and Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC). If the product requires additional testing, such as a safety report or Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) report, those documents must also be included.
