When applying for RF certification in Indonesia, one thing that should not be overlooked is the application fee. These fees are among the highest in Southeast Asia.

The cost to apply for RF certification in Indonesia is broken down based on payment stages, certification pathways, and product types. Knowing this before the process begins will help you plan your budget effectively.

Cost Breakdown by Payment Stage

Generally speaking, the cost of applying for RF certification in Indonesia is divided into two fees: the testing fee and the certification issuance fee. These fees are not combined into a single payment.

Payments will be billed separately at different stages. Before testing begins, you will be billed for the first payment—the testing fee. After your documents have been evaluated and approved, you will be billed for the second payment—the certificate issuance fee.

Local Testing Fees

Local testing fees are the costs you will incur when you first submit your application. These apply to devices that require local testing.

The local testing fees we will provide are those set by the Indonesian government for DJID-accredited government laboratories. In this case, we will provide the fees for testing at the Balai Besar Pengujian Perangkat Telekomunikasi (BBPPT) laboratory.

This lab is the most comprehensive facility where all five types of testing can be conducted: Radio Frequency (RF), Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC), Electrical Safety, Laser Safety, and Specific Absorption Rate (SAR).

Certificate Issuance Fee

The certificate issuance fee is a fixed fee that must be paid for each certification application. This fee is charged after the document evaluation process is completed.

Two factors determine the certificate issuance fee: the product type and the laboratory type. Products are divided into two categories: HKT (cell phones, handheld computers, and tablets) and non-HKT. Laboratories are divided into three categories: local laboratories, foreign laboratories under a Mutual Recognition Agreement (MRA), and foreign non-MRA laboratories.

Costs by Certification Path

As we discussed in a previous article, RF certification in Indonesia has four application paths. Each path has a different cost structure. The application path you choose will affect how much you spend.

• Local Testing: Costs include testing and issuance.
• Document Evaluation: Only the issuance fee applies.
• RF Module Report: Costs include additional testing plus the issuance fee.
• Partial Documentation Processing: Costs include the remaining testing plus the issuance fee.

What Happens After Payment?

Once the fee for issuing the certificate or SP2 has been paid, you can download the certificate from your e-certification account. However, the certification process does not end there.

DJID mandates specific label requirements for RF certification in Indonesia. Applicants must affix a label to both the product and the packaging of every certified device.

In addition to affixing the label, DJID also requires that the labeling be reported within 30 days. Failure to comply with these labeling requirements will result in penalties.

Fees Apply for the Duration of the Certificate’s Validity

The fees listed above apply to the validity period of RF certification in Indonesia. As we know, the certificate is valid for three years as long as the product is still being manufactured and marketed.

After three years, the certificate must be recertified. The recertification fee will be based on the fees listed above.

For products that are no longer manufactured or imported into Indonesia, recertification is not required. Products already in stock and on the market may continue to use the old certificate.
