Before applying for RF certification, it’s important to understand the costs involved from the start. In Malaysia, certification application fees are billed separately for each feature.
The cost to apply for RF certification in Malaysia is relatively complex compared to most markets. Knowing this early on will help you plan your budget effectively.
In this article, we’ll cover everything you need to know about the cost to apply for RF certification in Malaysia. You can also watch the full video to learn about the requirements in detail.
Cost to Apply for RF Certification in Malaysia
SIRIM regulates the cost to apply for RF certification in Malaysia in eTAC/DOC/01-2, which sets forth the certification fees for communications and multimedia equipment. This document outlines all fees charged by SIRIM.
The list of services includes, among other things, fees related to type approval. The scope of RF certification in Malaysia covers three product categories. Each product category has a different fee.
Three Product Categories
Here are the three categories of RF certification products in Malaysia:
- Wired devices: PSTN, ISDN, PABX, ADSL, BPL, IPv6, fax machines, and ACLIP devices.
- Wireless devices: Ranging from Bluetooth and Wi-Fi to 5G, RFID, NFC, LoRa, UWB, and others.
- Free-space optics: devices that transmit data using light waves.
Most products fall under the wireless category. Each technological feature within each category will be charged separately.
Cost by Category

How costs add up in practice
The list above shows the fees for each feature that must be paid for devices applying for RF certification in Malaysia. If you’re still confused about the calculations, Dimulti, as a certification consultant, will provide a practical example here.
We’ll use a smartphone equipped with LTE, 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi, 5 GHz Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and NFC integrated with 5G as an example. Here’s the breakdown of the fees that need to be paid:
| Feature | Fee (RM) |
|---|---|
| LTE dan 5G | 600 per band |
| Wi-Fi 2.4 GHz integrated with 5G | 1000 |
| Wi-Fi 5 GHz integrated with 5G | 1000 |
| Bluetooth | 600 |
| Safety testing | 300 |
| EMC testing | 300 |
| SAR testing | 300 |
| Total cost to pay | 3500 |
Please note: These fees do not include the number of frequency bands a device supports. The more frequency bands and features a device has, the higher the total cost will be.
What Happens After Payment?
The certification application fee is paid in accordance with the payment schedule for testing and certificate issuance. Once the entire process is complete, the SIRIM certificate will be issued immediately. However, the certification process does not end there.
SIRIM requires compliance with label requirements for RF certification in Malaysia. Applicants must affix the MCMC label to both the product and the packaging of each certified device.
Things to Note
The cost to apply for RF certification in Malaysia listed above is based on the official rates published by SIRIM. These costs were recorded in August 2026. Fees are subject to change based on Malaysian government policy.
