What is a Paperwork Application?
To apply for RF certification in Malaysia, there are two available routes: the paperwork route and the local testing route. However, the paperwork route is the one most frequently used by applicants, as it is the recommended route.
Choosing the paperwork application or document evaluation route requires test reports from an international laboratory. In this regard, SIRIM does not maintain a specific list of laboratories.
Any laboratory accredited under ISO/IEC 17025 is acceptable. However, the test results must also meet Malaysia’s specific technical requirements.
Document for Paperwork
In addition to the test results report, other documents are required as part of the application paperwork for RF certification in Malaysia. These documents must be complete and accurate.

- Key Information and Manufacturer: Provides details on the brand owner and production facilities.

Submission process
The application process, from submission to certificate issuance, is fairly straightforward. You simply need to prepare all the required documents and submit them via e-ComM.
After that, you must make the payment and submit photos of the product before the evaluation takes place. SIRIM will set a date to evaluate the documents you have submitted.
Document evaluation will only take place after both the payment and product photos have been submitted. If either of these is missing, the evaluation will be postponed.
If the documents pass the evaluation, the SIRIM certification will be ready for issuance and legalization immediately. If they do not pass, you will need to correct the incomplete documents, resubmit them, and have them re-evaluated.
When Local Testing is Still Required
The fact that you have submitted a complete set of documents does not mean the product has been declared safe. During the document evaluation, SIRIM will verify once again whether the product complies with the specified regulations.
This is because there are certain situations in which your product may be required to undergo local testing. This occurs in the case of mobile-based devices, IPv6 devices, and international reports that do not meet SIRIM’s technical scope.
Mobile-based devices are required to undergo local testing regardless of any international laboratory reports. Local testing is also commonly conducted for IPv6 devices, even though international reports are technically permitted.
