The validity period ranges from one to five years, effective from the date of issuance. This is what distinguishes Malaysia from most other countries: the validity period of the certificate can be selected directly by the applicant when submitting the application.
Validity Period Options
When applying for RF certification in Malaysia, you’ll be presented with two validity period options: a short-term and a long-term validity period.
- Short-term validity period: One or two years.
- Long-term validity period: Four or five years.

The certificate renewal process follows the same procedure as the initial application. You may also use the same application documents as long as there are no changes to the product specifications.

Recertification
To complete the recertification process, you need to note the printed issuance date of the certificate. SIRIM will not send you any notifications regarding certificates nearing expiration or their renewal.
